Apple and longtime partner Disney this week are bolstering their stores with upgraded versions of iBeacon sensors and NFC readers, according to sources. Apple Stores have had iBeacons stationed throughout showroom floors for several months as a way to pinpoint exactly where a customer is within the store.
These scanners will be useful with iOS 8 and the new iPhones that are expected to be announced this week.

Rumor: Star Wars Movies getting digital release in November 2014 (iTunes)
Jedi News cites a “very reliable source” that states that all six original movies will be getting a digital release this November. After the Disney purchase, it does make sense that the movies would be coming to Apple’s iTunes and other digital platforms in time for Christmas. However it is not clear whether this will be Netflix-type streaming, digital downloads, or both remains to be seen.
Disney Cruise Line limits on-board smoking
Smoking is prohibited in all interior areas of Disney’s ships in accordance with the Florida Clean Indoor Air Act. Effective November 15, 2013, guests will no longer be permitted to smoke on stateroom verandahs. However, portions of open-air decks on each ship will remain as designated smoking areas.
